Hello!
It seems like it's time again for yet another blog! We have had a busy past few weeks. Memorial Day weekend was insane! Our friend Luke and his girlfriend Marissa flew in from Seattle for Luke's brothers graduation and stayed a night with us. It was nice seeing Luke again and getting to meet Marissa. They came bearing gifts of beer of Tyler, chocolates for me (yum!) and the absolute cutest outfit for Harliegh (which, I am sure you will see pictures of at some point). Within hours of them leaving my sister Shalene showed up with her boyfriend, Jeff and my little nephew Jarek, and they stayed with us for a few days. All of my sisters and my brother where in town that weekend to see "The Phantom of the Opera" at the theater...which was amazing! Afterwards we went out for korean food and karaoke. The next day we all got together yet again for a barbecue and a nerf gun war! The next week Harliegh got her pictures done for free...though by the end of the session she was making it quite clear that she was done! This past weekend we went to a housewarming party for our friends James and Jade and Harliegh got the chance to play with other babies around her age. It was so neat watching her interact with other children! I really should find a playgroup... Then on Sunday we met Tyler's Aunt Cathy, Uncle Ron and cousins Carine and Ryker at the huge indoor playground where it didn't take long for Harliegh to become overwhelmed, fussy and ready to go home! Next weekend we will be headed to Iowa to see my family for my birthday and then the next weekend will be Tyler's first Father's Day!
Besides the busy weekends, things have been pretty normal. I try to get outside with Harliegh often and am eagerly waiting for it to get warm enough to try out the baby pool we just bought. Harliegh is really starting to explore and figure out ways to get around blocks we have made to keep her out of the kitchen. She loves to crawl as fast as she can into the kitchen, to the dog bowl and grab handfuls of dogfood in which she tries to eat. This all happens in the matter of seconds. Tyler and I have gotten pretty creative trying to keep her out. Not only does she love to go after the dog food, but now she is starting to act like a dog. HAHAHA...She watches Oscar a lot and is starting to mimic him, she will grab one of her toys and put it in her mouth and crawl around following Oscar. She also tries to give Oscar her toys. thankfully he knows not to play with her toys. I even caught her once trying to lick him back....yuck! Her favorite new word though is kitty...when she is not trying, in vain, to play with Oscar she is following around our cat, Vicious saying "A Kitty! A Kitty!" She really is starting to vocalize a lot more...and is even saying a couple words, mama, daddy, kitty...sometimes she says what sounds like doggie and Oscar to me...but I am sure no one else would understand it. She is also getting scarily close to walking, she easily walks around the furniture and will even let go and stand without holding anything at all! She had her 9 month check-up and is doing fantastic! Already over 18 pounds! WOW!
Tyler has been busy working on his first few games as an associate producer and making great progress! I have been looking into going to school in the fall. Is it sad that some of the main reasons I am looking forward to going to school(other that the obvious reason to eventually find a career) is to be around other adults for an hour or two a day and to get into some great literary debates...I miss that.
That's the update for the Hay Family for now.....until next month!
