Little Miss Independant

Well it seems like it's time to blog once again. Harliegh turned 9months old yesterday. She has become a pro at standing up ...as long as she can put her hands on something, she can pull herself up, she even tries to stand up holding on to nothing, though she doesn't get very far. She is a very brave and independent little girl. She loves to walk...but gets annoyed when we try to help her, unfortunately she is not quite balanced enough to do it alone. She also has recently decided she doesn't like to be spoon-fed anymore...she would rather do it herself. It has become quite a challenge to figure out what foods she can eat easily and safely all by herself. On that news, she has recently sprouted two teeth! Her very first tooth popped up last week with the second one following only two days later. Surprisingly, she was not a fussy teether for the first two....hopefully she will be this good for the rest...we will see. She just decided that she doesn't like bedtime either, but don't worry...Tyler and I are standing firm and not letting her take control...for the most part :). I am also contemplating taking the bottle away very soon...she uses her sippy cups at meal times and gets a bottle before naps and bedtime. If anyone has any suggestions on how to do this, send them my way. I would like to be bottle-free by her first birthday!
Its getting warmer and warmer and we are excited for summer. The town we live in has a lot of things to do in the summer...there's a swimming beach, an Art Festival and live concerts every Thursday by the lake (that are free!!) So I am excited to take Harliegh to some of these. We have a busy summer ahead of us...my birthday, Harliegh's first Independance Day (fireworks!!), Tyler's birthday, and of course ...Harliegh's first birthday!!! It is amazing to think how much she has grown in just a year! She will be having her 9 month check-up in a week, it will be intersting to see how much she has grown!

I must go now...it is lunch time...and then off for a walk!

  1. As far as having her bottle free. I took it down to nothing but her bottle at night, right before bedtime, and then started replacing that with her sippy cup. I think the most important thing with that last milk of the day, still hold her for a while as though she were having a bottle and cuddle. And if she's very independent she'll be all about using her sippy cups soon enough. Isabel was. :)
